Custom Urethane - General Information

Castable urethanes are molded into thousands of custom end uses typically taking advantage of urethane’s unique physical properties including:
  • Outstanding Abrasion Resistance
  • Excellent Cut & Tear Strength
  • High Load Bearing Capability
  • Resistance to Oils & Solvents
  • Long Flex Life
  • Wide Range of Hardness
  • Superior Dynamic Properties
  • High or Low Resilience
  • Good Hydrolytic Stability
  • High Impact Strength
Harkness Industries’ unparalleled knowledge of urethane chemistry coupled with a wide variety of engineering capabilities enable our design group to select the optimum urethane for each application. We produce products from 10 Shore A to 80 Shore D utilizing the following castable urethane types:
  • Polyether – TDI
  • Polyester - TDI
  • Poyether - MDI
  • Polyester - MDI
  • Polycaprolactone - TDI
Choosing the right urethane is the first step in delivering a product that meets your requirements. Harkness Industries’ manufacturing processes include open & compression molding, centrifugal casting, low-pressure injection, and thick film coating. We bond urethane to a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cured urethane, epoxy, and fiberglass.

We are capable of producing both a single prototype, or production runs of 10,000 or more parts. The combination of material selection, product design assistance, and manufacturing flexibility, all under the umbrella of a certified ISO 9001:2000 quality management system, will enable us to meet any custom molded opportunity.
